Sarkara Varatti Upperi For Onam Festival - Buy Online From India

Sarkara varatti is another kind of sweet jaggery coated banana chips made from plantains which is a traditional crunchy sweet from Kerala and this snack is also an important part of Kerala festival Onam sadhya or other traditional feasts. 

The plantain pieces will be sliced little thick and then fried. Once the chips are really fried well, they are dipped in hot and sweet jaggery sauce (traditional sweet popularly used in South India). 

So the outside of the chips is cruchy, but inside they are so sweet. The sweet plantain chips dipped in jaggery sauce is popularly known as sarkara varatti where sarkkara means jaggery.
